This is a handbound edition of Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre Dame featuring an experimental plexiglass window cover. Instead of traditional book board, I used two sheets of plexiglass with purple book cloth cut in a circle to frame the Notre Dame rose window design.
Details:
Plexiglass covers with circular window opening
Custom typeset pages with gargoyle and Notre Dame motifs
Gold foil text and decorative elements
Hand-sewn using French link stitch (18 signatures)
Metallic marble endpapers
Purple sprayed edges
Hand-sewn endbands
Gold bell charm bookmark
Complete unabridged text
The transparent covers create a layered effect where you can see through to the marbled papers and interior pages. The window opening frames different views depending on how the book is positioned.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece combining traditional bookbinding techniques with an experimental cover design.
