Returns & Satisfaction Policy

Every project is made with care — here's how I make it right.

Custom Work

Custom Rebinds

All sales are final. Because each rebind is made specifically for you, I cannot accept returns or offer refunds on completed work.

Before we start: Every project begins with a consultation to make sure we're on the same page about materials, design, and pricing. You'll approve the plan before I start working — no surprises.

I stand behind my work. If there's a defect in craftsmanship or materials (like a binding that falls apart or pages that weren't secured properly), I'll make it right. Contact me within 14 days of receiving your item with photos and we'll figure out a solution together.

What's not covered:
  • Changes of mind after you've approved the project
  • Damage from regular wear and tear or improper handling
  • Issues caused by how you store or use the book — these are handmade items and need a little TLC!
Damaged in shipping? Contact me immediately with photos. I'll work with you to file a claim with the carrier or find another solution.

Print & Bind

Print & bind projects are produced from your provided files, so reprints due to errors in your original document are not covered. Please carefully review your files before submitting — I'm happy to flag obvious issues if I catch them, but I'm not responsible for content errors.

If there is a production error on my end (misprints, binding defects, wrong spec), I will reprint or refund at no charge. Please contact me within 7 days of delivery with photos of the issue.

Mending & Repair

Mending is a scope-limited repair service — I'll address the specific concern you bring to me, and nothing more. If your spine needs reattaching, I'll fix the spine. Wrinkled pages, worn corners, or other unrelated issues are outside the scope of a mending order unless we've discussed them upfront.

I'll always try to make repairs as seamless as possible, but depending on the damage and materials, some repairs may be visible. Think binding tape, patches, or reinforcement strips — functional, durable, and honest about what they are. If you need a fully invisible repair, a Custom Rebind is likely a better fit.

Since I'm working on your book, there are no returns — it stays with you regardless. If the specific repair fails or doesn't address the main concern, I'll redo it. Just contact me with photos and we'll sort it out.

Not sure which service you need? Get in touch and I'll help you figure it out before you commit to anything.

Custom-ish

Penguin Clothbound Rebinds

Penguin Clothbound rebinds are made to order — I source the book, you choose the colors and cover design, and I send you a cover proof before I start. Because each one is built specifically for you, I cannot accept returns or offer refunds on completed work.

If there's a defect in craftsmanship or materials, contact me within 14 days of receiving your item with photos and I'll make it right.

What's not covered: Design issues after you've approved the cover proof, changes of mind after the project is underway, damage from wear and tear, or issues caused by improper handling or storage.

Dissertation Binding

Dissertation binding is produced from your provided files. Reprints due to errors in your original document are not covered — please review your files carefully before submitting. I'll flag obvious issues if I catch them, but content errors are your responsibility.

If there is a production error on my end (misprints, binding defects, wrong spec), I will reprint or refund at no charge. Contact me within 7 days of delivery with photos of the issue.

Shop Items

DIY Kits & Physical Products

Unopened kits and unused shop items (journals, stickers, totes, and other ready-made products) in original condition may be returned within 14 days of delivery for a refund of the item cost (shipping is non-refundable). Please reach out before sending anything back so I can confirm eligibility and provide the return address.

Opened or used kits are not eligible for return. If your item arrived damaged or missing contents, contact me within 7 days of delivery with a photo and I'll make it right.

Workshops & Classes

Workshops & Classes

Workshop registrations are non-refundable, but they are transferable — you're welcome to send a friend in your place. Just let me know at least 24 hours before the class.

If you need to cancel more than 72 hours in advance, I'll issue a credit toward a future class. Cancellations within 72 hours are not eligible for credit or transfer, as supplies have already been prepared.

If JesterCat cancels or reschedules a class, you will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to the rescheduled date.

Questions or concerns? Reach out at jess@jestercatbinding.co — I'm a one-person shop and I genuinely want every project to be something you love. If something isn't right, let's talk about it.
