Fundraiser Book Rebinding Workshop | MATTER OF THE IMAGINATION

  • SUB Alumni Lounge 751 West Grant Street Bozeman, MT, 59715 United States (map)

Matter of the Imagination takes its name from a line in Ursula K. Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness — a novel about imagination, difference, and the stories we reach for when we're trying to understand each other. So obviously, that's the book we're rebinding.

On April 18th, JesterCat Binding Co. and Matter of the Imagination are hosting their first-ever benefit class: a 3-hour bookbinding session in the Alumni Lounge at MSU's Strand Union Building. You'll strip the cover off a copy of The Left Hand of Darkness that are sourced from Country Bookshelf, Bozeman's own beloved local bookstore, and give it a brand new handmade one. Zero experience needed, just hands and curiosity. And maybe a coffee order ready for MOTI founder and editor Owen Gibbs, who'll be on-site doing pour overs like the legend he is.

20% of every registration goes directly to Matter of the Imagination to support their work publishing Montana's sci-fi and fantasy writers and illustrators. So you get a book AND you do something good. That’s a pretty solid afternoon.

Registration is open — grab your spot below.
