This is a completely unique, one-of-a-kind rebinding of Gary Paulsen's survival classic Hatchet - and I will never make another one like it.
What Makes This Special: This rebind was born from one of those lightning-strike creative moments where everything just had to happen RIGHT NOW. I wanted to try my hand at leather cover art beyond heat transfer vinyl, and Hatchet was the perfect canvas.
The cover features hand-cut leather inlay depicting the iconic hatchet - both the blade and handle were cut and placed by hand, then set into an embossed frame. The spine was finished with a heat embossing machine for added texture and dimension. Every element was crafted with materials I had on hand, making this a true labor of love and experimentation.
The endpapers were chosen to echo the book's color palette while evoking the water that plays such a crucial role in Brian's survival story - a subtle nod to the wilderness setting that defines this beloved novel.
